Gettin' my craft on-

So I have been working like crazy on these scarves the last two days, and Sophia wanted one, and wouldn't let up I might add. Anyway, I put a couple of flowers on it for her, she is very proud!
Some awesome thrift from the weekend also, my sister adorned me with a few things, and I hit the jackpot at an Appleton thrift store, I won't mention the name though...cannot let my secret out!

Do you see a color theme here?

Birdy embellishment in progress-

Successful thrifting! It is chilly here in Wisconsin this morning, and I am feeling it! Fall that is- One more week and school will begin here, so hard to believe! But, Rusty is gone again, and the sewing machine will be working OT. Also, I plan to get some much needed painting done in this house. We have lived here for 7 years already, and much of the work I did pre-children, needs to be re-done. My mom thinks I am crazy, but I promise I will not paint the kitchen or my bedroom. I have already done that a few times.

Oh yeah, any ideas for Rusty's 40th coming soon? I have a couple, but I am not entirely sold on any of them.

Working on more bling & Grandma's

Aunt Janell, showing a "movie" to the kiddos!

Sophia was so excited to be with her cousin Cedar! We had a really good time visiting!

Finished bling! Not so cute on the table cloth, but hopefully you get the idea. I am shocked and amazed by the interest my friends and family have in my creations. I now have a couple of orders and I think it is exciting!

Works in progress. I want to try a necklace soon also- I have a few ideas. EVERYTHING I am using is old, or at least re-purposed. It is fun to make stuff out of other people's junk!

After spending time with my family and extended family this weekend, I realized just how much of a junk collector I am! And I LOVE it! My whole family is into it too. My uncle has an old parking meter in his driveway. My aunt owns an antique/vintage store. My brother gave me the hot tip on some great new places to shop, and even my little sister Kate was intrigued by it all. Not to mention, my mom has the largest vintage button collection ever..of course, many of my finds come from her jars! Thanks mom!

Autumn thrift score!

So, I saw this plate at a local thrift a few weeks ago, and had no cash on me at the time. I figured I would make it back later that day or something. But I did not, and two weeks later, it was still there! Woo Hoo! Also, scored a couple of scarves...did you know I collect them? And a VERA too. Also, see the red & purple blob? Well, Jurnee made me get it to go with my Halloween outfit. Oh just wait until you see me in a week!

So, church project #1 is just about complete, whew, and #2, well, I guess it is on hold for awhile, t-shirt quilt, I just will not be able to get to it this month either. I have Christmas projects to work on, and I need a new bag. The one I haul around, is too big for the drawer at my desk at work, so I need something a little smaller. But man I do love my bag. Have you ever tried the Lands' End Lighthouse medium zip top tote? I should just sell cars and be done with that don't you think? I know Janell probably thinks so...Schmitt humor. Oh yeah, stay tuned in a day or two for the plastic on my window photo, Janell & Sandie would so get the humor. I just cannot snap the photo now, as Rusty is sleeping in there, and he would be less than pleased if I take a photo. Taa taa!

Fall Nesting

-Kitchen Love-
-New Place for the Warren Kimble Jackos-

The suitcase is of course a "rescue" from a day of thrifting and I added a couple of ties, a pin, some hot glue, lined the inside filled it with rarely watched videos, and Ta Da! The photo just above does not do justice at all! It really is a beautiful space, but you get the idea. The mantle and kitchen table are still in the works. Have fun Nesting yourself!

Thrifting...cleaning...building...swimming

Isn't this a great sheet? I plan to use it for a quilt backing, I think...
Progress is actually being made in the craft room! I think the hard part is mostly over, the fabric folding!
Slab poured for the new hunting "shack" it won't actually be a shack anymore, but I will have a difficult time not calling it that.
The girls had a great time swimming at Boulder Lake with Grandma. Super windy though, but fun nonetheless!

Hamming it up as usual!

Thrifting

Friday was a great day of thrifting, I picked up a little fabric, some quilt mags, an ADORN mag that I missed (In the photo too...oops!) and drum roll please, about 100 more patterns! Now I better get to sewing & stitching!

Tomorrow I will post the fabric I got from Herrschners. Did I ever tell you that the Herrschners operation is just a mile down the road?

Anyway, they often have fabulous deals on yarn, stitching kits, scrapbook supplies and now, they have just brought back the fabric department! So

I just had to check out the sale. Actually I think there is a big scrapbook sale on today, but I am sewing
this week! lol

Also, just want to throw it out there, if any of you are looking for any "vintage" crafting mags, leave me a comment. I just found the hugest selection at my favorite local thrift shop, and I would be happy to pick any up for you. There were just too many for me to get all at once, plus, Sophia and her Dum Dum sucker were ready to go.

Those that are leaving me such nice comments about my girls and crafts, thank you, I have not been able to respond and would have liked to.

Leafy FUN!!!!

Sophia's first play in the oak leaves. She had a ball!!!!! She slid down the little slide into the leaves. Jurnee showed her how to do everything.
Jurnee is all about the drama. For a girl who wouldn't pose int he past...try to keep the camera away now...sheesh. But in our 80+ degree Wisconsin October weekend, the leaf pile seemed like a great plan. The girls had a great time in the leaves, and I just had to keep the pile intact. They laughed and laughed, it was really fun.
And to top off the weekend...KILL TIME...THRIFT...SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I had about 20 minutes to waste before I had to pick Jurnee up on Friday from school, so I went to this church rummage that I have attended in the past, but since they hold a rummage in the same location in the spring and fall, I haven't had any good finds in about 4 years. But wow, someone cleaned out the jewelry box, and I am happy to report the lovelies. Also, note the sheet in the background, it is barely used from JC Penney in the 70s, and fits perfectly on Jurnee's bed.

Thrifting...Rusty calls it slummin' I call it fun!

So I have not been able to thrift very much this year, and I am bummed, but I did pick up a few fabrics at the local store, and I found these beauties at a sale down the road.
I LOVE the cover dress pattern for the one on the right. My biggest issue with old patterns is that I want to make sure I am using an appropriate yarn, and because this is from 40ish years ago, and I think sizes have changed so much. Anyway, off to Hershners (did I mention that the home office and supply store is about 1 mile from my house?) to look for some yarn, I just might tackle this and save the quilt for the fall...so many projects so little time.

Also want to mention, that the "Begin to knit" photo is me after about 10 hours of trying to figure it out...saying, "where did I go wrong?"

For now I will stick to crocheting.

Big thanks to Jen Duncan for alerting me to my blog not accepting anonymous comments, I had no idea, so go ahead everyone, leave a comment, tell me what you think.

So, my camera batteries died today. I will not be posting photos of my current work again for a few days. But, I have a great story. Last summer I went thrifting (of course) and I saw an older Mc Call's Pattern for a handbag. It was in a box and was not marked. Now, I am pretty aggressive at these things, and my friend Jess wanted to leave the scene. It was a bad part of the city in a questionable neighborhood. But I NEEDED this pattern, so I asked how much? The girl said I could have it for $1 if I took the whole box, so I saw some small pieces of fabric in it, so I said sure. This is quite spendy for my town. Anyway, I put the box in the back of the van and looked in it a week later. SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are probably 25 Barbie outfits cut, pinned and marked and ready to sew, but the very best part is in the photo...check out the patterns. My daughter is 4 so I might attempt a few of the Barbie outfits, but either way, I scored some great old patterns, some vintage small fabric pieces, and oh yeah, a great bag pattern! Hee Hee!

I will be stitching now, Ta Ta!
