Latest Happenings

Lousy photos, but this is one of my latest projects. Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall. I appliqued the circles into what I feel is a change of seasons that we experience here in Wisconsin. I really need to figure out how to make better photos with the digital camera, or I may as well forget it! Sheesh...
I also picked up my poppy pattern for my applique class, and I can hardly wait to get started on it. I will show my progress as I work on it.

I just called my sister in Minneapolis and she is not affected by the bridge collapse other than inconvenience, though she said at approximately 6:05 Tuesday night she was on that very bridge, man, close call. I bet traffic sill be a disaster there for awhile. We will see in early September when we go there for the fair. Did you know the Minnesota State Fair is incredible?...I like to hang out in the arts & crafts building, lol.

Janell was here this weekend and took some fabulous photos of the girls for me. She is so stinkin' talented. She works with all sorts of vintage cameras for herself and has a darkroom where she develops the photos herself, but using my camera seemed to work out fine. (Maybe she could tell me what I am doing wrong.)

Enough for tonight...

Quilt for Cooper!!

I finished the quilt for baby Cooper and just in time...he was born on Monday! I designed this whole quilt by myself, and all was hand-stitched, except for the initial binding strip to the front side of the quilt. I sure hope he likes it! If I had known his name was going to be "Cooper" I may have made the car a different shape..hee hee.
Tomorrow I will post the patriotic projects I have been working on. I am still cutting squares for the swap. And will be tomorrow also, but boy what a way to get motivated to sew.

Improvisational Quilting...I did it!

So awhile back, The Quilt Show had a tutorial for improvisational quilting and I just had to try it! I am so pleased at how this worked out, I will be doing it again. This will be a pillow for my home. After sewing it together, I stitched a flower pattern with perle cotton, dmc, and krenik metallic threads. These are some of my favorite colors and I am partial to this design. I think hand-applique quilting is my absolute favorite craft at the moment. I think I can be so creative with it!

I am also in progress with a baby quilt for a friend (expecting any day!) So that is my weekend project.

Sophia is great, Jurnee is with Rusty in Madison picking grandpa up from UW hospital, and I have approximately 2 hours left of work for this week and woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick note to let anyone who reads this that I am still here. I have been having some serious computer troubles, and I cannot download the photos of what I have been up to. Hopefully that will get taken care of today. But I am working on a wall hanging for Jurnee's room, and an applique project too. I, with the help of a friend in one of my stitching groups, found a great tutorial on freezer paper applique here http://www.abyquilt.blogspot.com/ and I guess I will try that method.

I will be back! Enjoy a photo of my baby today!

I am trying to do some fancy changes to the blog, and well, forget it! But here is my latest project, I think a wallhanging. The heart and sun are applique. I did use some interesting stitches here, but mostly I am excited that it turned out the way I had hoped. Rusty told me, "I don't get it." I think maybe some crystals in the center yet.
