Spring...NOT Yet!

I came home from a weekend of shopping one week ago, to this snow, this was after the melty weekend! Since then we have gotten 8ish inches of the pretty white stuff, and it has been very cold. Not much melting going on here.
But the remodeling project is coming along nicely. Stay tuned, pics of the progress are coming!

Sewing Again

Last week amidst the construction dust, I managed to sew the girls each a pillowcase. It was good to sew again! Basement project is almost finished, and then I will be able to create again!

Sophia had cowboy day at school, glad grandma set her up with the gear! Notice the braids!

The last regular season gymnastics meet was last weekend, and Jurnee made the podium! We are so proud of her!

Go Pack Go!

The day after the PACKERS victory, was sports day at Sophia's school. She will not wear "boy shirts." So off to the dress up box I went! Cheerleader- Ta Da!!

The most exciting part of this is that she got to wear her first ponytail!

I have lost my camera and have so much to share, I cannot find it anywhere, I wonder if my little cheerleader took it?

SNOW DAY!!!!!

Finally finished the "Strength" tree from Monster Bubbles. (I tried to link it, but the site is unavailable.) This was a difficult project as the tiny cross stitches almost made me go blind! But I am so glad to be done!

After having 2 days off last week due to conferences, the blizzard conditions, made enough rumble for a snow day! Our first of the year! So Jurnee is dressed appropriately!

I am looking through my blog lists and changing things a bit, come back in a few days to see the new exciting blog list!

Hand quilting...Argh!

I am working on the had quilting of my string quilt. It looks pretty good, picture does not do it justice at all. But I have been back at it pretty much. Painting and decorating the house also. I have been working diligently on the Tree of Life cross stitch, and I should finish it tonight. Pictures will follow.

Buy Local-Buy Handmade

I am going to adhere to this philosophy as much as possible this Christmas and from here on out! I just feel like so many good things could come out of it, how could we ignore this great idea!

Of course I have & will support Lands End, since it is my employer, and a Wisconsin based company and LE has so many wonderful things to offer!

I also have to support someplace for electronics, as we will be upgrading to the 21st century, now that a decade is almost over:( Not sure who to give this business to, since I don't know of any mom & pop local Nintendo stores. I am always inclined to give my business to Shopko since it is a Wisconsin based company, or Target, another midwest fave.

I have a couple of gifts ordered from a very talented lady, & making a few myself.
So a shopping I will do, and baking and decorating too! Happy Cyber shopping week!

Creative update as promised

Air conditioning was difficult for me to stitch, but the fan, a blessing too! I am thankful for cool-off options! This summer with the constant humid conditions here in Wisconsin, the fan (and air conditioning) have been great blessings!

Chair cushion and table runner to match the newly covered chairs in my kitchen. I covered each of the 6 chairs in a different fabric, then used the fabrics again for the "patchwork" look on the chair and table.
I needed a new messenger bag...so one morning I work up and made one for myself! This is fun to carry and used some of my favorite fabrics! (like the pocket!)

Summer update!

Above, we spent some time with my high school friends and their children, watching them grow up so fast is truly amazing!

Vacation Bible School is in the books! Jurnee and Sophia had a great time, and so did cousin Tanner!
What a few weeks we have had, my mom's wedding, VBS, a new job, and lots of other special times. Summer is great, but winter is soon on its way I know, boo hoo--
Lots of creative updates coming! I have been so busy! Even worked on the blessings embroidery.

You ask?

Dawn? Why do you keep changing your blog design? Well, I really like the new blogger templates and I had a great one in place, however it makes my ancient computer run so slow, that I just couldn't take it anymore! It is difficult enough to find time to fit in the designing I want to do, the blog is unfortunately not getting the time it deserves! So I would rather craft, and post than learn how to speed my computer and work on the blog design. Sad but true!

Don't you just love the pic of Rusty and Sophia?

Lousy pics of the button rings I have been working on...but they sure are fun...I have 18 of them finished! Fun project to share with Jurnee too!
I work a ton this week, so I will be lucky to get much finished, I have a few pillows in the works I plan to share soon!

USA blessing

I have been trying to get this pic to post for days now, finally no issues!
In the event of Memorial Day I do remember those who served in our country. But more than that, I am proud of my my country even though it has been bashed a lot since 9-11. I will tell you why, I love the freedoms our country offers. (Though these seem to be slowly fading away by way of political correctness.) I am so happy that I can openly tell someone I am a Christian and not be put in jail. Or that I can send my children to school, did you know the number one thing that children in Afghanistan wish for is a pen?
Seriously we take our daily lives for granted so. Anyway, I could (and would) go on and on, but I think you may know my strong feeling about some of these issues.
God Bless America!
