1969 Blogging

As you may know I went to my hometown last weekend with the girls for a visit. My grandma, (the source of much of my stash) gave me some old craft books. These are real treasures! The yellow copy of "Dolls" I found so interesting, published by a woman in Wisconsin in 1969, the cost $1. This publication includes numerous addresses and short bios of doll crafting women from all over the US & Canada. On the table of contents page it reads:
"I am happy to present this book of patterns which have been sent by readers. To the 'Doller' these patterns should prove interesting. Happy Dolling to all, and may you find the contacts you hoped for in these few pages."

I am amazed that the need for "crafting" contacts and fellowship that the bloggers enjoy today was made a reality through "snail mail" in the 1960's. These patterns are great too.
All of the books I received from my grandma have some very interesting patterns actually, and I plan to share more once I get through them fully. My grandma is the BEST EVER!!!!!!

Ok, I am back in the game...

So I was losing steam, but I got recharged, must have been the chocolate cookies Jurnee and I made yesterday. So yesterday I went to an estate sale, there wasn't much there, but I did get a tiny needlework project (which I finished last night)
and a box about 12"x24" full of neatly stacked cards and envelopes. I thought that could be fun for the altered book project.

Jurnee and a whole lot of her friends have dance recitals tonight and Sunday afternoon, and Jurnee can hardly wait...me either frankly. the photo is Lydia, Jurnee and Ava. Each in different numbers.

Now I am going to finish the new quilt project I started yesterday, just a sampler, and I wish I would have planned to do something larger since I love my fabric combination. Stay tuned for that one.

So, my camera batteries died today. I will not be posting photos of my current work again for a few days. But, I have a great story. Last summer I went thrifting (of course) and I saw an older Mc Call's Pattern for a handbag. It was in a box and was not marked. Now, I am pretty aggressive at these things, and my friend Jess wanted to leave the scene. It was a bad part of the city in a questionable neighborhood. But I NEEDED this pattern, so I asked how much? The girl said I could have it for $1 if I took the whole box, so I saw some small pieces of fabric in it, so I said sure. This is quite spendy for my town. Anyway, I put the box in the back of the van and looked in it a week later. SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are probably 25 Barbie outfits cut, pinned and marked and ready to sew, but the very best part is in the photo...check out the patterns. My daughter is 4 so I might attempt a few of the Barbie outfits, but either way, I scored some great old patterns, some vintage small fabric pieces, and oh yeah, a great bag pattern! Hee Hee!
